Now preparing for Winter Magic
Tunes and Tales 2014
Don't miss the sights and sounds, the smells and tastes of Gatlinburg at Christmas time and throughout the Holiday Season.
Gatlinburg Winter Magic Kickoff and Annual Chili Cookoff in downtown Gatlinburg. This is one of the few times of the year when Gatlinburg actually shuts down the main street of the central downtown area to hold all the visitors and vendors who show up for the event. The chili cookoff begins at 5:00PM and features live entertainment as well (sometimes there are even TWO stages on both sides of the street), plenty of kids' fun things to do, and as it starts to get dark, Gatlinburg will throw their own switch for the holiday lights to come on and begin their Trolley Tour of Lights as well.
The Festival of Trees is a charity function operated by the Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries where entrance is free, and all donations and proceeds from there go directly to the Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries efforts to help the less fortunate in our county. For those wanting to visit, a gorgeous, glowing indoor forest of the most creatively decorated Christmas trees in Gatlinburg welcomes you in and creates nearly 100 photo opportunities for you and the kids. Santa Claus will also be there, children can wear Christmas boxes of their own.
The Gatlinburg Fantasy of Lights Parade is the official start to the "Christmas" section of Winterfest, and wow what a kickoff it is! Every single one of you and your kids' favorite Christmas icons, from mainstays Santa, the Reindeer, Charlie Brown and The Grinch, to newer classics like The Polar Express and other surprises. The "Fantasy Of Lights" moniker lives up to its name with a breathtaking display of lights, sights, sounds and more from over 100 floats and a dozen marching bands from participants and businesses in the area. It lasts for over an hour, and there are over 200 awesome photo opportunities for you and the whole family to enjoy for years to come!
